BICYCLE PATROL:

To better facilitate a community oriented Police Department the Patrol Division runs the Bicycle Patrol Program.  The primary purpose of the ‘bike patrol’ unit is, in conjunction with the foot patrol program, to provide officers with the ability to respond to access our citizenship in any place where they may require our services. Bike Patrol officers are able to access the alleyways, creeks and paths that are inaccessible to motor vehicles.  This program also makes officers more accessible to the public, removing the barriers of walls and windows that are present in a police car.

Bike patrol officers are also assigned patrol cars so as to be able to respond to priority calls over greater distances, but maintain the ability to patrol on the bike and maintain intimate communication with Town residents and visitors.
