Emergencies:
For all Emergencies
Dial 911.
Non-Emergencies:
Most non-emergencies can be handled by dialing (301)
333-4000.
Non-emergencies can be
considered those calls for service that do not require an immediate
priority response but still require police action. Some examples of non-emergencies would
be requests for routine police services (i.e. fingerprinting, notary
services, copes of police reports, obtaining vehicle release for
impounded vehicles, payment of red-light or ordinance citations,
certification of a State Equipment Repair Order (SERO), etc.), reporting
stolen property (as long as the theft is not in-progress), requesting a
routine area check, or filing a commendation for or a complaint against
an officer.
Officer
Commendations/Complaints
As public servants officers are expected to be held accountable for their
actions, both positive and negative.
Should you feel the need to file a discrepancy against an officer
you are entitled to that right. At
this same token, when officers perform in an exceptional manner it is
appropriate to recognize them.
Any commendations or complaints about a police officer
can be rendered verbally, by email or in writing. You should recognize, however, that any
action that the submitter requests a follow-up should be made by email or
in writing. Such actions should be
made directly to the Office of the Chief of Police at the below address.
I came to the Police Station,
but no one was there. How to I get
Forest Heights Police response after hours?
The Forest Heights Community
Center is typically closed on federal holidays and thus police
administrative offices are also closed.
However, officers are on the streets and police coverage is still
available. If you arrive at the
Community Center and the offices are closed and you need a police
response simply call the non-emergency police dispatch number, (301)
333-4000 and an officer can meet you.
The Forest Heights Police Department has an agreement
with the Prince George’s County Police Department for county officers to
respond to calls for service within the town should a Forest Heights
officer not be available. If you
have a specific need to contact a Forest Heights officer (i.e. to
follow-up on an investigation, to report an ongoing issue, etc.) simply
notify the dispatcher that you need a Forest Heights officer and when one
comes available he/she will respond, or any responding County officer
will relay the information to the Forest Heights officer.
The Police Station is located
